The Endless Forest
A drop of sweat dripped down his face; and at first, he couldn’t tell if it was perspiration or a tear caused by the fear inflicted upon him. It had stopped chasing him, at least for now, but he didn’t know how long he had until it started up again. He took a moment to catch his breath, before continuing on, running through the dark and eerie forest.
It was hard to see anything except the outlines of the trees around him. The full moon shone through the leaves above him, and all he could do was run deeper and deeper into the dimly lit forest. A light mist sprayed down on him from the gray clouds above, creating a cool sensation throughout his entire body. He began to fear for his life. Why was it doing this? What were its intentions if it were to reach him? He didn’t know the answers to any of his questions, and the unknown was what scared him the most.
Even though there was nobody behind him, he repeatedly heard footsteps and turned around to find himself staring into nothing but the endless abyss. He prayed to find an exit, but the trees never stopped coming into view.
