Two Poems

I’m told to hold my head up high,

Metabolize hate into fake smiles,

Believe in strength and prophecies,

Reach for the clouds,

Outdo everyone I can,

Keep my mask up, and stay loud,

Either pray for hope or hope to pray.

Nobody can see my broken side.

To stay in one place,

Where no one can tell when something is wrong.

Option one is a smile, but option two is a frown.

Foreshadowing moments of life become show and tell.

Asked a thousand questions but the answers can’t be found.

Cancel everything in my plan.

Expose a room of two-faced smiles.
